His ambition extends beyond reducing poverty. He envisions a world where homelessness, illiteracy, preventable suffering, exclusion and deprivation become chapters of human history rather than permanent features of human civilization.
His defining dream is that, within the next hundred years, future generations will encounter images of today’s human suffering only behind the glass doors of museums—and remember that an earlier generation had the courage to overcome them.

Unlike visions confined to speeches or declarations, Captain Kibria’s philosophy has inspired practical humanitarian and institutional initiatives.
As founder of the Dr. Mostafa Hazera Foundation, he has developed programmes connecting immediate humanitarian assistance with long-term human development.

Practical Examples of His Vision in Action
Housing with dignity: His housing initiatives go beyond providing shelter. Beneficiary families are encouraged to abandon begging, ensure their children’s education and, when financially capable, help another family secure a home. This creates a cycle of responsibility, independence and human solidarity.
Healthcare without financial barriers: Through free medical camps, healthcare assistance and ambulance services, the Foundation has supported vulnerable communities, including residents of Sonaimuri and Chatkhil, Rohingya refugees and, through its latest initiative, people requiring emergency medical transport in Dhaka.
Education as liberation: His educational initiatives aim to ensure that young people are equipped not merely with certificates, but with knowledge, skills, confidence and opportunities for meaningful employment.
Women and youth empowerment: Through educational support, healthcare, skills programmes and community initiatives, he advocates enabling women and young people to become active participants in economic and social development.
Humanitarian response during national crises: His Foundation has supported flood-affected families and hundreds of students injured during Bangladesh’s July movement, demonstrating his belief that humanitarian leadership must respond when people need it most. As founder and Chairman of MH Global Group, an international business group with more than 70 offices across 16 countries, he has developed enterprises in global education, international shipping, ship chartering, commodity trading, maritime consultancy and human capital development.

Drawing upon decades of maritime experience, Captain Kibria has proposed an ambitious strategy to transform Bangladesh into the Global Maritime Epicentre of the 21st Century.
His maritime vision encompasses ship ownership, international chartering, shipbuilding, port modernisation, maritime education, marine insurance, logistics, commodity trading and the blue economy.
With aspirational targets of US$150 billion in annual maritime economic activity and more than three million employment opportunities, he seeks to demonstrate how national resources and strategic geography can be converted into economic strength and human opportunity.

Achievement in the shipping sector
Director and Owner: Established in 2012, he is the Director and Owner of Ocean Shiptrade Pte Ltd – Singapore. Under his ownership, the Ocean Shiptrade Pte Ltd became a BIMCO member in 2013. In 2020, the company became a member of the Baltic Exchange. The Ocean Shiptrade Pte Ltd is a global shipping consultant, as well as a chartering and brokering house handling 7 – 10 million tons of commodity every year by Ocean Trade.
Director and Owner: He is also the Director and Owner of Ocean Trade Shipping (global short name: OTSI) – extensively ship chartering and wing handling about 8 – 12 million tons of commodity annually and also handling dry cargo, including steel products, coal, alumina, iron ore, bauxite, clinker, bulk cement, gypsum, limestone, chemicals, fertilizers, building materials, aggregate grains/grain products, etc.
Today, OTSI is a reputed name in the global ship chartering and ship operating industry, having close business ties with all frontline shipping owners and operators worldwide. It has created a vast clientele with all the reputed shipping players in the world.

Humanity and public life
Captain Kibria’s efforts extend far beyond the business sector. As the founder of Dr. Mostafa Hazera Foundation, he has championed revolutionary causes such as poverty alleviation, universal education, and accessible healthcare.
Guided by the powerful slogan “Begging is a shame for humanity,” his initiatives have uplifted countless lives. His leadership during crises includes relief to over 10,000 flood victims in Feni and Noakhali, aid to 500 injured students during the anti-discrimination mass movement, and recognition from the present interim government.
He attended numerous prestigious overseas events, including National Day celebration dinners in Singapore. Alongside President Halimah Yacob and State Minister Alvin Tan of Singapore, he attended many events to transform society, including special assistance during COVID-19.
Recently, Capt. Kibria was invited by Singapore’s prime minister and his cabinet colleague to the 2025 Chinese Garden Party, recognizing his works in Bangladesh.

Born in a village in Bangladesh, Captain A K M Golam Kibria has carried the concerns of vulnerable communities from the grassroots of his homeland to international platforms of humanitarian leadership, economic cooperation and global diplomacy.
His journey reflects a powerful message: a person’s birthplace does not determine the boundaries of their contribution to humanity.
While his humanitarian mission began with the people of Bangladesh, his growing international engagement has provided opportunities to advocate for social justice, democratic values, refugee protection, education, human dignity and international cooperation.

Through the Dr. Mostafa Hazera Foundation, his initiatives have supported vulnerable families, homeless people, students, women, young people and individuals requiring urgent medical assistance.

The Foundation has reported conducting 57 medical camps benefiting approximately 35,000 people, alongside extensive relief activities for communities affected by floods and other emergencies.
His vision of transforming Sonaimuri and Chatkhil into a City of Education by 2040 reflects his determination to demonstrate how education and human empowerment can reshape an entire region.
His work has received appreciation from local authorities and recognition for community development and humanitarian contributions.
Standing Beside Bangladesh During National Crises
Captain Kibria has consistently advocated the principle that humanitarian service must transcend political differences, social divisions and personal interests.
During major flooding in Bangladesh, his Foundation mobilised relief and assistance for thousands of affected people.
Following the July 2024 movement, the Foundation extended support to approximately 500 injured students, providing humanitarian and medical assistance during a period of national difficulty.
The Government of Bangladesh subsequently issued an official recognition certificate acknowledging the Foundation’s humanitarian contribution.
More recently, Captain Kibria expanded his free ambulance initiative beyond Sonaimuri and Chatkhil to include Dhaka, seeking to ensure that financially disadvantaged patients are not denied timely access to emergency healthcare.

International Recognition at Oxford and London’s Guildhall
On 16 December 2025, Captain Kibria received the Global Humanitarian Champion Award at an event held at the University of Oxford, recognising his humanitarian contribution and advocacy for human dignity.
Another important milestone came on 4 September 2026, when he presented his Human Equity Civilization vision at the PIEoneer Awards gathering at London’s historic Guildhall.
Addressing an international higher education audience at an event associated with approximately 700 universities, he called upon educational institutions to move beyond traditional academic outcomes and become active partners in human empowerment.
His appeal was grounded in the belief that universities should not simply produce graduates for existing economic systems, but help create generations capable of building a more equitable, responsible and compassionate world.
A Voice for Justice, Democracy and Human Rights
Captain Kibria’s growing engagement with international policy and diplomatic forums has enabled him to contribute to discussions on justice, democratic accountability, human rights and the future of global institutions.
Through United Nations-related engagements, international civil society discussions and UK policy platforms, he has emphasised the importance of protecting human dignity, strengthening inclusive institutions and ensuring that vulnerable communities are not forgotten in international decision-making.

Through the Dr. Mostafa Hazera Foundation, he has supported medical and humanitarian initiatives for Rohingya communities in Bangladesh, including activities in the Cox’s Bazar refugee camps.
He has consistently emphasised that refugee protection must extend beyond temporary relief to include education, healthcare, children’s welfare, human dignity and sustainable opportunities for the future.
A significant milestone came during the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2026.
On 23 September 2026, during a high-level Rohingya-focused gathering at United Nations Headquarters attended by international representatives and Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, the emblem of the Dr. Mostafa Hazera Foundation was displayed on a United Nations screen alongside the map of Bangladesh.
For Captain Kibria, this was a deeply meaningful moment: a humanitarian institution originating in Bangladesh had gained visibility on one of the world’s most prominent international platforms.
His engagements during UNGA 81 also provided opportunities to advocate for long-term humanitarian cooperation concerning Rohingya education, healthcare, dignity and empowerment.
This experience reinforced his conviction that the Rohingya crisis is not simply a regional refugee issue, but a continuing test of humanity’s collective responsibility.
His message is that refugees must never be reduced to numbers in humanitarian reports. Every refugee is a human being with a name, a family, a history, a dignity and a future worth protecting.

During UNGA 81, Captain Kibria participated in a series of high-level international engagements involving humanitarian issues, poverty reduction, children’s welfare, global development, democracy, human rights and international cooperation.
These engagements brought him into contact with policymakers, humanitarian advocates, international development leaders and representatives of global institutions.
He has also engaged with British parliamentary circles, international educational institutions, civil society organisations and global business communities, seeking to connect Bangladesh’s experience and capabilities with wider international discussions.
