A Master Mariner having an accomplished career, graduated from Singapore, Captain A K M Golam Kibria holds an MBA and is an Associate Fellow (AFNI-UK) of the Nautical Institute in London. Captain Kibria is a visionary patriot and global connector.

He was one of the youngest captains in Southeast Asian shipping industry during his time. As the Chairman of MH Global Group, a conglomerate of over 20 companies, Captain Kibria has propelled Bangladesh into the global spotlight, demonstrating the nation’s potential for excellence in industries ranging from shipping to education. Education

Graduated from the Bangladesh Marine Academy in 1994 (28th Batch). Thereafter, obtained an MBA in 2004 before joining the shore establishment in Singapore. Embarking on a journey marked by extraordinary achievements
Sea service: Since 1995, he has served as a global marine officer in renowned shipping companies and was one of the youngest Master Mariners. Shore establishments: In 2006, he joined the shore establishment in Singapore, and in 2012, he set up his own shipping company in Singapore.

Achievement in the shipping sector:

Director and Owner: Established in 2012, he is the Director and Owner of Ocean Shiptrade Pte Ltd – Singapore. Under his ownership, the ‘ Ocean Shiptrade Pte Ltd’ became a BIMCO member in 2013. In 2020, the company became a member of the Baltic Exchange. The Ocean Shiptrade Pte Ltd is a global shipping consultant, as well as a chartering and brokering house handling 7 – 10 million tons of commodity every year by  Ocean Trade.

Director and Owner: He is also the Director and Owner of Ocean Trade Shipping ( global short name: ‘ ’ OTSI’’) – extensively ship chartering and wing handling about 8 – 12 million tons of commodity annually and also handling dry cargo, including steel products, coal, alumina, iron ore, bauxite, clinker, bulk cement, gypsum, limestone, chemicals, fertilizers, building materials, aggregate grains/grain products, etc.

Today, OTSI is a reputed name in the global ship chartering and ship operating industry, having close business ties with all frontline shipping owners and operators worldwide. It has created a vast clientele with all the reputed shipping players in the world.

Captain Kibria wields a rare and formidable arsenal: direct alliances with the titans of global maritime commerce—frontline ship owners, operators, and decision-makers who steer the world’s shipping empires. NORDEN: Is a Danish shipping company, the firm operates about 300 dry cargo –and tanker vessels.

CTM – C Transport Maritime s.a.m – manage about 120 dry cargo vessels at any point of time, based in Monaco.

PACIFIC BASIN – world leader commodity groups, abt 270-290 vessels operating from Hong Kong.

COFCO intl: Operating 200 vessels at any given time operating worldwide with head office in china.

TATA NYK: A jointly collaborated company between Tata group and nyk (Japan) – operates abt 16 ships and nyk alone abt 100 ships.

MEADWAY/ Drydell shipping operating worldwide and having ecofriendly 60 vessels.

K LINE: a Japanese owners having 541 vessels operating worldwide.

DENSAY: Densay shipping operating from Dubai – owning abt 45 vessels.

Captain Kibria’s efforts extend far beyond the business sector. As the founder of Dr. Mostafa Hazera Foundation, he has championed revolutionary causes such as poverty alleviation, universal education, and accessible healthcare.

Guided by the powerful slogan “Begging is a shame for humanity,” his initiatives have uplifted countless lives. His leadership during crises, including the provision of relief to over 10,000 flood victims in Feni and Noakhali, aiding 500 injured students during the anti-discrimination mass movement, and being recognized with appreciation from the present interim government showcases his unwavering commitment to humanity.

Captain Kibria’s international connections have further elevated his stature. He attended numerous prestigious overseas events, including National Day celebration dinners in Singapore.

Alongside President Halimah Yacob and State Minister Alvin Tan of Singapore, he attended many events to transform society, spearheading special assistance towards encountering the depredations of the COVID-19 pandemic. His presence in these high-level gatherings solidified extraordinary overseas connections, enabling collaborations that benefit.

Recently, Capt. Kibria was invited by Singapore’s prime minister and his cabinet colleague to the 2025 Chinese Garden Party, recognizing his works in Bangladesh. These engagements have positioned him as a respected global figure who bridges nations and fosters mutual progress.

Captain Kibria has mobilized the people under one vision of progress and equity in Bangladesh’s Chatkhil and Sonaimuri upazilas, turning these communities into models of unity and development.

The 10th-anniversary celebration of the Dr. Mostafa Hazera Foundation, where many Coordinators of the much-acclaimed July 2024 “Student Movement against Discrimination” were honored as the key participants, reflects his commitment to empowering the youth and fostering future leadership.
